Dinky Dog is an 11-minute animated segment on The All-New Popeye Hour from September 9, 1978 to September 1981 and was Hanna-Barbera's first show created and produced in Australia. The show is about two girls, ditzy blonde Sandy and smart, sensible, bespectacled brunette Monica, living with their uncle, Dudley. Sandy bought a cute pup who suddenly grew the size of a horse and she is now stuck dragging Monica into always finding work and different ways to repair the damages Dinky causes at their poor uncle's expense. Sure enough, however, Dinky always seems to fix things in an unexpected way and is forgiven, much to uncle Dudley's dislike. In the second portion of the series, Dudley takes the nieces for a world tour on a rented leisure boat, giving Dinky a chance to cause mishap on the different continents for more adventures. Following the original network run of The All-New Popeye Hour, Dinky Dog was given its own half-hour timeslot in syndication. Thirty-two 11-minute installments of Dinky Dog were produced; two were aired per 30-minute episode.

The series focuses on a rare species of little bears with wings that live in the magical forest in a utopian cooperative community. Once Upon a Time... Life reintroduced the edutainment formula that had been left out on Once Upon a Time... Space. The series combined entertaining storylines with factual information, presented metaphorically. The series Once Upon a Time... Life used the same characters from the other Once Upon a Time... seasons: the good characters represent the cells that make up the body's systems and defense mechanisms, such as red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets, while the bad characters represent the viruses and bacteria that threaten to attack the human body. Every episode of the series featured a different organ or system within the human body. In the French-language version of the series, the opening theme song "la Vie" was performed by Sandra Kim, the winner of the 1986 Eurovision contest.

In 2006/2007, a new TV version of The Magic Roundabout was created, with 52 11-minute episodes, by French animation house Action Synthese with scripts and voices produced in the UK.
